corporate event management austriaAustria has an area of 32,376 square miles, very close to the size of Maine or South Carolina. The country covers a part of the eastern Alps and the Danube Region and has a wide variety of landscape, vegetation and climate.

There is spectacular scenery around every corner: vineyards, ancient castles and venerable abbeys overlooking the Danube, wooded hills rising up from lush farmland, lakes dotted with sailboats and ringed by soaring mountains, Alpine peaks and their icy world of glaciers reaching for the sky. The towns are as varied as the countryside around them.

Historic cities where architectural masterpieces from three or four hundred years old face each other across narrow lanes or wide squares, market towns that have barely changed since the Middle Ages, mountain villages with neat little houses and flowers overflowing from wooden balconies, are the essence of Austria.

Vienna

Of all the cities in Central Europe, Vienna typifies the mood of a multi-cultural society.

Europe, it has become an international meeting place and crossroads of European economies and culture. Indeed, Vienna was recently calculated to be the world's most popular convention city for the second year in succession.

Vienna is home to the United Nations and the gateway to Eastern Europe. In Vienna's stimulating atmosphere, thoughts and ideas grow and mature in an environment of friendliness, open-mindedness and cooperation. Its glorious history is reflected in the imperial splendor of this city, blending a wealth of art nouveau, Baroque, Gothic and Classical styles with music, waltzes and coffeehouses. Vienna, however, has not always been considered such a romantic destination.

The city found itself just a few miles from the Iron Curtain during the Cold War. Hence, trade ceased with the East, and foreigners found little reason to visit a war-torn city. However, with the sudden popularity and growth of the Eastern Jewels (Budapest, Prague, and Krakow), Vienna rediscovered its role as a gateway. In-transit tourists, as well, have rediscovered Vienna's old-world charm, often making an unexpected extended stay.

There is no better time than now to visit this magnificent city. People travelling to Vienna looking for fin-de-siècle architecture and a relaxed atmosphere will not be disappointed. Imagine a city shaped by artists and composers 150 years ago. Huge palaces seem to appear on every major street corner, and the sky is pierced with towering church steeples.

The buildings along the Ringstrasse seem to offer a bit of every European Building style, from the medieval Rathaus, Gothic Stephensdom, to the Greco-Roman parliament building.
